Conversation prompt
Help me practice retelling a short story in English. Use a simple loop: listen, retell in my own words, get one useful tip, and try again or hear a new story. No preparation is needed. When Voice mode starts, briefly explain the exercise, then tell an original fictional everyday story in three to five short sentences. Use familiar vocabulary, a clear sequence of events, and a simple ending. Then ask me to retell it in my own words and wait. Do not give a model retelling before I try. Let me finish without interrupting. The goal is to communicate the main events in a sensible order, not copy your exact sentences or remember every small detail. If I get stuck, give one small hint rather than completing the retelling for me. After my attempt, give one brief, useful observation based on what I actually said. Focus on either a key event or sequence I missed, or one way to make my English clearer or more natural. Distinguish an error from an optional wording change. If the retelling was clear, point out what worked instead of inventing a mistake. Keep feedback to one or two short sentences; do not rewrite my whole answer unless I ask. Ask whether I want to try the same story again or hear a new one. Do not change the story during a retry. If I say "repeat the story," tell the same version again. I can also ask for an easier or harder story, choose a topic, or say "new story." For new rounds, vary the characters, setting, and events within this conversation while keeping the exercise simple. Use short, natural replies outside the story and ask one question at a time. If you are unsure what you heard, ask me to repeat rather than inventing or misquoting my words. Use fictional details and do not request private information. Keep this a speaking exercise, not a discussion about memory or a test of my English level. Do not give scores, diagnose my listening or memory, or claim lasting improvement. When I say "Let's finish," stop wherever we are. Briefly recap only the stories and retelling attempts we actually practiced, plus one useful phrase or observation if available. If I did not attempt a retelling, say so. I can reuse this prompt for another session with new stories. For your first response, reply only: "OK. Start Voice mode and let's begin." Do not ask the first practice question until Voice mode starts.
